December has been a magical time in Harrisville! From festive events to heartwarming acts of generosity, our community has come together to create a season to remember. As your mayor, it has been an honor to witness the incredible efforts of our staff, volunteers, and neighbors who make Harrisville so special.
The month began with our Sensory Santa event, a wonderful opportunity for children to visit Santa in a calm and welcoming environment. This inclusive event set the tone for holiday season filled with joy and connection.
The following week, we teamed up with the North View Fire Department for our annual Christmas Parade, which has quickly become a highlight of the season. The parade ended at the cabin, where children had the chance to meet Santa and share their holiday wishes. Seeing the excitement and joy on their faces reminds us all of the magic this season brings.
A special thank you goes to our Harrisville Police Department for organizing the Shop with a Hero event. This year, 19 children were paired with officers to shop for their Christmas gifts at Walmart. It was an inspiring morning filled with laughter, smiles, and the true spirit of giving.
Throughout the month, our community’s generosity shone through the Giving Tree program. This year were were able to help four families in need by providing 235 gifts and over $1,900 in gift cards. None of this would be possible without the kindness and compassion of our Harrisville residents. You have shown once again, why this is such a special place to live.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this season so memorable. From our Administrative staff to the Parks Department, Public Works, and Police Department, every team in the city played a vital role in bringing these events to life. It is truly a team effort, and I am so proud of what we have accomplished together.
As we start out the New Year, I want to thank you, the residents of Harrisville, for our unwavering support and generosity. It is an honor to serve as your mayor and to see the ways we come together as a community.
